Senior year is a special time in a student’s life. It’s a time filled with excitement, anticipation and the bittersweet realization that one chapter is ending while another one is about to begin. It's a unique moment in life with lots of memories and changes. Senior photography is the perfect way to celebrate the milestone of graduating but also celebrating the beginning of the next adventure.

When most people think about high school senior portraits, they might picture a formal photograph with a plain backdrop that will be used for the yearbook. Senior photography goes a step beyond that to document a senior’s unique personality, style and achievements. Senior portraits are an opportunity to show how a senior shines! So what does senior photography document?

1. A senior’s unique personality

What makes you who you are? A senior session is the chance to really show how you shine. To show off your personality and what makes you unique. You’ll work with your photographer to create a personalized experience that showcases your unique personality, passions, interests, and accomplishments. The process of being photographed will highlight your unique qualities, boost your self-esteem and empower you to embrace your true self.

2. Interests and talents

A senior session is a great way to document what your interests and talents are. Are you a dancer? Are you a photographer? Is there something that is a true reflection of you, what you’re interested in and what you have a natural talent in? You senior session is the perfect time to document what you have been passionate about all through high school and before.

3. Extracurricular activities

A senior photography session can also document your achievements and extracurricular activities. To do this a session might include sports gear, musical instruments, academic awards, or showcasing your involvement in clubs, sports teams, or other organizations.

For your session, your photographer will work with you to choose a location that truly reflects you. This might include an outdoor setting, an urban setting or in a studio. Your photographer will also help you choose outfits that are best for the locations and reflect your personality. During the session, your photographer will give you direction that will result in a variety of posed and candid shots. These photographs will include close-ups, full-body shots and various angles. You might also include group photos with friends or family.

The final gallery of photographs will include a mix of traditional portraits and more creative, stylized shots. You’ll also have the option for different ways to enjoy your photographs, from custom photo albums, wall art, a digital gallery and much more. This way you can cherish and share your memories with family and friends for years to come. If you or someone you know is approaching their senior year, consider scheduling a senior photography session and creating lasting memories that will be cherished for generations to come.
